World AIDS Day: Communication

With an epidemic as personally transmitted as AIDS, communication between partners is key. It's not expected to be comfortable, but asking crucial questions of a potential partner in intimacy can save your lives. Condoms break.
Before such an event you want to know how healthy your partner is.

Services like STFree make necessary questions like: "Have you been tested for STD's?" as painless as possible, with the additional benefit of being able to confirm the answer your partner gives you.

It's worth the extra effort, and while it may not be 100% foolproof, it does confirm when your partner was last tested, as well as gives you insight into whether they bother to pay heed to the sexual area of their health at all.

If your potential partner doesn't have a card, why not ask them if they'll consider it?

AIDS is indeed a trobling issue in the black community. One of the issues I focus on in my blog, The African-American Pragmatist, is the notion of the "Down Low Brother." The individual who is having sexual contact with other men and keeping it a secret from his partners. This behavior is killing the black community, especially our women. Black men, it's time to be honest with yourself and your partners. Society, while many may not agree with the Gay lifestyle, please donot persecute these individuals but grant them the same respect and dignaty befitting all of God's children.

@IAMRobert

There definitely needs to be less repression and more truth where lifestyle is concerned.
