The Launch of One Laptop Per Child

Our goal: To provide children around the world with new opportunities to explore, experiment and express themselves.
-Laptop.org

One Laptop Per Child, is a movement that began over two decades ago, with determination to provide education to children everywhere over time. It is a movement that utilizes the software of the Open Source Realm, innovation in laptop design that provides functionality in wet climates, has a crank for generating electricity as well as a 6 hour battery that can be charged by a car battery, and is designated to one market which discourages grey market trafficking to name a few extremely well-considered features.
The children who receive these will have access to a laptop that is the size of a book, is as light as a lunchbox, has a built in camera for videconferencing, and has been designed overall to last. The laptop is a tablet pc, that allows writing on the screen, and also has game controls.

This is a sign of things to come for the world.
True equal opportunity.
It's every human's right.

Check the vids for more info.
The initial launch is set to begin in November.

Nicholas Negroponte explains the movement, which contrary to popular belief, has been in effect since the early 70's.

I saw a special on this computer and it's maker on 60 minutes. It's such a great idea, but competion has caught wind of his idea and are trying to steal it from him for a new avenue of profit.

Nontheless it's such an amazing concept, and I hope this year to be able to donate one to child.

It's definitely worth investing in.
I wouldn't worry about the greedmongers. This idea is so opensource, it wouldn't make anyone seeking a profit a penny richer.
