I happened upon Fake Plastic Fish's snazzy blog, while researching the wonders of vegetable protein in deodorants that actually neutralize bacteria-generated odor (Saccharomyces Ferment- Vegetable Protein Extract). Once there I reveled in her post on plastic free, healthy shampoos, deodorants and soaps.
These included the 'No Shampoo' movement ( better known as 'No Poo') which utilizes baking soda and water as shampoo, with Apple Cider Vinegar as conditioner, Lemon or Lime (citrus fruits in general squeezed or pulp and all have the same effect) as a conditioning rinse, and good ol' Baking soda deodorant with teatree oil and a powder puff as discovered by the FPF owner.
Tre Groovy.
It inspired me to expand your horizons if they have not already been expanded.
Not only can you clean house with baking soda and the titan of organic cleaners:vinegar, you can also clean yourself with them, and enjoy a chemical-free, environmentally friendly alternative that is easy on the pockets.

She will explain through this link how Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with water and optional essential oils for fragrance is just as effective a conditioner as Pantene...
No joke.

since the year began i've been doing the baking soda wash, avocado oil conditioner, apple cider vinegar rinse and it's made my hair so very soft :)
Peace B!
How've you been SisterStar?
I have to start working with Apple Cider Vinegar across the board. I'm amazed at how many aptitudes it has.
Haven't tried the No Shampoo alternatives though. I'm thinking I will. Plastic-free anything is the move right now, and essential oils are the saving grace of holistic products. You can make anything smell yummy, and enjoy added benefits.
Got to get some books and start playing in my kitchen more often. It's been awhile since I've experimented with anything.
Shine on
