Watching this brought tears to my eyes. I am so happy for Jasmyne and inspired to start saving pennies to find out about my family's ancestry. A family member did find the plantation owner that would possess records of my Father's line, but he is still a very racist, privileged individual who advised my family member that she was 'interrupting his dinner', and that the papers were 'lost in a fire'...
I am definitely interested in dual citizenship when I learn the land/tribe my Father's line is connected to. All the descendants of enslaved peoples are entitled to that.

Hey there!
I read about her DNA test results and I posted a comment last week...and I was very, very deeply moved by her story...we MUST know our ancestry and embrace all aspects of our history...
My father told us when we were little kids:
Only the strongest of the strong made it through the Middle Passage...WE are from the strongest of the strong.

It's so important that we become reacquainted with our roots. I had looked at the dnatribes.com testing awhile back, but there's been alot of clamor about Africanancestry.com's testing services.
Not sure which I'll go through, but I'm surely going through one of the available services.
